Artist's Statement
A recent buyer of my work asked me the interesting question: How does an artist paint in the abstract? Most artists when creating a landscape, still life or figurative painting have a point of reference to draw from. An abstract painter still relies on all the principles of painting whether it be lighting, spacial harmony, contrast or composition. With abstract art there is a certain flow and freedom of expression that
simply evolves as the painting evolves. The abstract quality comes from deep within an artist's mind and is interpreted through the eyes. The thrilling component of all this is the not knowing how a particular
piece of work will be executed until that abstract eye senses completion.
