Biography
At a young age, I had gone through some hard times that had made if difficult for me to see passed the negative aspects of my life. I`d become very ill and had to take some time off school to recuperate. During this time, I learned a number of perspective-altering things both from people and the world that helped me survive through those tough days. Among these many lessons and new skills learnt, I discovered that I had quite the passion for photography. As a child, I used to marvel at the nature and ocean photography in the National Geographics that I read with my mom; I was almost as excited as she was when the postman would bring us our- um- I mean- her magazine. From this I guess that I could say that I was never a stranger to photography, although had never though of taking it beyond the dream of that eight year old girl who wanted to be an oceanographer.
I started taking pictures that's sole purpose was to remind me of how far I'd come, let it be pictures of myself, of new friends, or of those silly little things in life that some people might completely disregard, but that I treasured none the less; it was my way of preserving those ephemeral moments in life that brought light to those somber days. By no means was I good at it when I first started. But, as many things grow and refine with time, so did this passion.
I've always loved the natural world. Finding some sense of tranquility was never a hard thing to do for me if I was camping or walking along one of those earth beaten paths in the middle of an old forest. It wasn't long before I thought of bringing my camera with me for one of those nature walks. Comparatively to previous photos I'd taken that weren't concerned with nature, the difference was night and day; I was in my element and it showed. Years and years have passed since then, and the natural world still remains my main focus of interest. Unfortunately I haven't gotten my hands on an underwater camera yet, but who knows? Maybe some day!
I'm proud to say that I work solely with natural lighting and stick strongly to my philosophy that natural photography should be kept as natural as possible, meaning that I do little to no alterations to my photos save for some cropping every now and then. Also, when I do bring man-made object into the scene, nature still remains the primary focus. Every chance I have, even though my motives might have changes since those early days, I'm taking photos. Even though I'm far from those National Geographic geniuses whose pictures still captivate my imagination, it's what I love doing an will continue taking photos no matter where I am so long as the earth stays 'green'.
This is the first time I publicly display my art and I hope that you'll enjoy these pieces as my as I do.
