We are a contemporary ceramics studio located at 1065 Bank Street in Ottawa where you can create personalized pieces of pottery for special occasions, gifts and decorative use.
The creative impulse exists in all of us. At The Mud Oven we want to help you satisfy your impulses with brushes, paint and earthenware. Whether you've never picked up a brush before or are an accomplished artist already, a session with us will ease your tensions and feed your soul. We make it easy. How does it work?
- Choose an item from our vast selection of white earthenware.
- Use your imagination, inspiration, tips from our friendly, expert staff and any of our accessories to design and paint your piece.
- Leave your work with us to glaze and fire (on site in our own kiln), and pick it up in five days. (We can rush our turn-around time for special circumstances. Call for information.)
EACH CERAMIC PIECE HAS A FLAT FEE. THIS PRICE INCLUDES EVERYTHING, except tax.
- The Bisqueware (Ceramic Piece)
- The Paint
- The Studio Fee
- Use of All Supplies
(Brushes, Patterns, Books etc)
- Technical Assistance in using Stencils, Sponges etc.
- The Glazing, Firing and, of course, the FUN!
Because we charge a flat fee, you don't have to keep an eye on the clock. Let inspiration take as long as it needs.
All items are dishwasher safe, food safe, and can be microwaved.
Because you need to feed your body as well as your spirit, we have a selection of treats: coffee, tea, juice, soft drinks and cookies for your enjoyment.
HOURS
We're open Monday: 12-6, Tuesday through Friday: 10-9, Saturday and Sunday: 10-6.
Note: HOLIDAY HOURS will be listed in our ‘Upcoming Events’ section.
Walk-ins are always welcome, but to avoid disappointment reservations are recommended especially on weekends and for groups of three or more.
GROUP BOOKINGS
The Mud Oven is a fun environment to host kids birthday parties, or adult after hour private painting parties ... eg., birthday, bridal and baby showers, team building sessions or an evening out with friends.

Bring a group of friends anytime during our regular store hours. An appointment is necessary. Food and wine may be brought in to our ‘after-hours private painting parties’ only. We do however have snacks available for purchase.

PRICE RANGE
Mugs
Various sizes and prices ranging from $19-$25. Over twelve styles to choose from including animal, bistro, pedestal and espresso mugs.
Plates
Various styles and prices ranging from $18-$32. Salad plates, lunch, dinner, charger and square plates.
Bowls
Various styles and prices ranging from $18-$26 for individual serving size, and from $28-$62 for mixing and serving bowls.
Functional Pieces
We also carry many other functional pieces: tea pots, pitchers, candleholders, vases, platters, bathroom and kitchen accessories, frames, address plaques and wine goblets to name a few.
Fun Pieces
A wide selection of bugs, dino’s, sea creatures, mosaic coasters, jewelry boxes, money banks (pigs, cars, hockey) are also available.
Seasonal Items
Menorahs and seder plates, many styles of Christmas ornaments and plates, boxes, santa and snowman mugs, Valentine plates and heart boxes as well as Easter eggs.
