Paint at Home Kits

The Details:

Book a 15 minute consultation reservation by emailing us or giving us a call in order to come in, choose your items and pick out your colours for your project. Not recommended for weekends or holidays as we are extremely busy, and you may have to wait 10-20 minutes for service.

We will provide you with detailed written instructions on how to complete your project.

We are also happy to give you the paint explanation in person in store before you head home.​

Please take the following precautions when painting outside the studio:

• Select an area that is free from oils and food. Oils from hand cream and food can prevent the paint from sticking to the ceramics during the firing process, causing a defect called "shivering" where the glaze sheers off. 

• Wash your hands with soap before touching your ceramics.

• We include brushes and other materials you'll need in our kit rental

• You can use any paint brushes that you have at home, as long as they have not previously been used with Oil paint (see above!)

• We also have inexpensive paintbrush kits for sale in store
   

*** Do not use any other paints or materials on your ceramics, except for the ones provided by us.

Do not use Sharpies, nail polish, pencil crayons, crayons, acrylic paint or glitter on your pieces.

Using any materials not provided by our studio may cause us to not be able to fire your items in our kiln. Please take great care to follow this important direction.

BRING YOUR PIECES BACK TO BE FIRED IN OUR KILN

Return your items to us, and we'll glaze and fire your pieces. Once fired, they are fully functional. (Dishwasher, Microwave and Food Safe) 

Our turnaround time is ~7-10 days, depending on how busy we are.

We'll notify you by email once your piece is ready.

Kit Rental Costs:

A non-refundable rental cost of $20 per kit includes brushes, paint pallets and 10 large paint bottle colours.

Additional colours can be added for $2 each. This should be enough paint for groups of 6-12 painters.

If you are a much larger group (12+), we are happy to lend you additional paint. This will be discussed during the booking process.

You're welcome to choose the colours yourself, or just request a rainbow palette that we are happy to put together for you.

The borrowed materials must be returned to us complete

and in the same condition they left our studio.

We will take your information down when you leave with the kit. The kit MUST be returned to us in a timely manner (7-14 days, agreed upon during the pick up process) and we reserve the right to charge you a replacement fee if the paints, brushes or other materials are not returned to us intact.

No Rental Cost Paint at Home for Individuals:

If you are an individual, and would like to borrow just a few colours instead of renting our kit, we charge $2 per 1oz paint pot. These do not need to be returned, but we are happy to reuse any leftover paints you may have.

We do not lend out brushes outside of the formal Kit rental, but we do have inexpensive paintbrush kits available for purchase in store. 

You can also use any paint brushes that you have at home, as long as they are not used with Oil paint (as they may cause the shivering defect mentioned earlier).
