Paint at Home Kits

Prefer to paint at home? Want to bring a fun activity to the cottage, girls weekend, birthday party, park?

Come pick up your ceramics and paint, and just return the items to us afterwards to be fired in one of our kilns.

Book a 15 minute consultation reservation by email or phone to come in, choose your items and pick out your colours for your project.

We provide you with detailed written instructions on how to complete your project, but we're also happy to give you the paint explanation in store before you head home to paint as well.

We do not lend out brushes or other painting materials, but we have some inexpensive kits for sale in store.

We sell 1oz paint pots for $1 each, so you can select as many colours as you'd like.

Please take the following precautions when painting outside the studio:

Select an area that is free from oils and food. Oils from hand cream and food can prevent the paint from sticking to the ceramics during the firing process, causing a defect called "shivering" where the glaze sheers off.
Wash your hands before touching your ceramics.
Use any brushes that you have at home, as long as they are not used with Oil paint (see above!)
Do not use any paints other than the ones provided, or you risk us not firing your piece in our kiln. Only VERY SPECIFIC paints called "Underglazes" that are fired to our specific firing temperature are allowed.
Do not use Sharpies, nail polish, pencil crayons, crayons, acrylic paint or glitter on your pieces. We will not fire an item with any of these or other unmentioned materials other than the ones provided by our studio.

BRING YOUR PIECES BACK TO BE FIRED IN OUR KILN

Return your items to us, and we'll glaze and fire your pieces. Once fired, they are fully functional. (Dishwasher, Microwave and Food Safe)

Our turnaround time is ~7-10 days, depending on how busy we are.

We'll notify you by email once your piece is ready.

LARGE GROUPS

Do you plan to host a party with 6 or more participants?

We are happy to lend you LARGE paint bottles along with paint palettes (one per person) to make things easier and less wasteful for your home events. You're welcome to choose the colours, or just request a rainbow palette that we are happy to put together for you.
